BROOD LOAN
OUR SIDE OF THE LOAN AGREEMENT
We cover all costs associated with transporting the pony to and from our stud on the dates agreed upon with the owner. Any vaccines, dental care, accidental injuries, or farrier fees are also included. Additionally, we provide insurance for your pony while they are with us, ensuring coverage of up to £4000 in the event of loss of life. We also supply high-quality hay and haylage, hard feed, and supplements tailored to each pony's individual needs. Two large stables are available for box rest, foaling, weaning, or other necessary uses.
Regarding the breeding aspect of the agreement, we ensure that all our mares are vetted before being covered. Once the mare has been covered, we schedule a scan at 15 days to confirm whether she is pregnant and that it is a single embryo. In the case of a confirmed twin pregnancy, we will ask the vet to perform a twin pinch. Depending on the duration of the brood loan, if your mare is with us for one season, she will be covered in her foal heat by our stallion if that can be done safely in hand or at weaning. Once the first foal is weaned and your mare is confirmed in foal, she will return home to you while the foal will stay on with us unless otherwise agreed.

We ask that you print out a formal agreement for us both to sign, ensuring that we adhere to the terms we have discussed and agreed upon. You can find this on the Highland Pony Society page, and you may amend it to suit our agreement. We request that any ponies be thoroughly vetted before arrival and that you be completely transparent regarding any previous health issues or vices. If we determine that your pony arrives in poor health or is not of breeding quality, we reserve the right to terminate the agreement. You also reserve the right to end the loan agreement if you believe your Pony is not receiving proper care.
We currently have two mares on loan from the owner. I can ask the owners to provide a reference that comments on how they feel their ponies have been cared for while here with us.
